Character Info
Name: Kevin
Canon: Trials of Mana
Age: 15
Canon Point: After being thrown out of Ferolia castle
History: the boy
Instead of finding Goremand in the woods and being sent on the quest to Wendel, he finds the Nook Ticket instead!
Personality:
At first glance, Kevin is a very intimidating figure, with his unruly appearance and fierce temperament. And he tries very hard to match that first impression! In Ferolia, strength is paramount, and there's no room for weaklings. Being only half-beastman, he's always been at a disadvantage, and constantly disparaged by others- including his own father. He'd always have to claw his way to the top, and even then there was no guarantee that he'd ever be regarded as anything other than a runt. He's spent his whole life training to be as strong as possible, and hardening himself against all the harsh realities of life as a half-breed.
Beneath that tough exterior, however, Kevin is actually just a big softy who's starved for affection. He was willing to abandon everything the moment he rescued the tiny, helpless Karl. For the first time in his life, he had someone to protect, and it opened him up to a whole wealth of things he had never experienced before, like friendship, love and empathy. He decided pretty quickly that he much preferred them over a life of endless fighting for dominance, and at the start of the game he's all but abandoned Ferolia to spend all of his time napping in the woods and playing with his puppy.
Old habits are hard to break, however, and Kevin still has a tendency to punch first and ask questions later. He is always willing to throw down, and will often resort to brute force first to solve a problem. He's well aware of this, however: when the party is sent on a mission to negotiate with a withdrawn strategist, he sheepishly admits that he's no good with diplomacy and he's rather let the others do the talking. This is even reflected in the gameplay: Out of all of the playable characters, he has the lowest magic stats and learns the least amount of spells regardless of how you build him. However, he has the highest physical strength and HP.
Kevin is not exactly the brightest. When he speaks, its in short sentences, omitting words and with long pauses as if he's having trouble thinking of how to say something. While he may be an expert at fighting, he's hopelessly dumb about almost everything else, because he's never been beyond the forests of Ferolia before. If his first reaction to something new is to punch it, his second thought will often be "can I eat this". Much of his flavor text in the remake involves him wondering if something is edible (even if that something is literally dynamite), or when the party's next meal will be. He has no idea how to conduct himself around others if it doesn't involve fighting them. It doesn't help that he was taught that humans are violent oppressors who hate him, so he's just naturally wary of people. This can make him seem a little standoffish at first. If his relationship with Karl is any indication, however, he will cling to anyone that shows him a shred of kindness.
Abilities:
Strength: Kevin is INCREDIBLY STRONG. He is shown being able to punch through walls, jump into the ocean and swim straight to another kingdom, and land on his feet after being shot out of a canon. Part of this is due to his heritage- beastmen are much stronger than your average human- but he's also trained for battle his entire life, so he's still pretty tough in general.
Fighting prowess: Despite being just a kid, Kevin has spent years training in martial arts and trying to prove himself, so he's a very formidable fighter. It's actually kind of alarming how stark the difference is between seeing him try to talk to someone and seeing him in battle.
Werewolf form: Like all beastmen, he has the ability to transform into a werewolf at nightfall. He obviously won't be able to do it here.
Item Regains:
Wolf plushie: A soft plushie that looks like a yellow wolf with a white belly. It's big enough to use as a pillow!
CHOCOLATE: A chocolate bar. Great for recovering your HP, or making s'mores.
Toy drum: A small, one-handed drum. Shake it to make noise!
Toy hammer: A funny looking hammer. It makes a squeaking noise if you hit it against something.
Physical Form: Original, but with wolf ears and a tail.
Title: Rough-And-Tumble Muscle
Extra notes: Nothing right now~
